About the Artist

Patricia LaFleur - Biography

In my early twenties, as I stood before a painting by the famous Claude Monet, I found myself asking, "How can color be moved around on a flat surface and somehow become something so deeply beautiful and impactful?" That moment awakened something in me that I didn't yet know existed. The feeling was so powerful and insistent—it needed to be explored.

Not long after, a friend connected me with a painter who introduced me to oil painting. From that point, on and off over many years, I worked in a variety of forms and mediums, including still life oil paintings, murals, trompe l'oeil, silk painting, and acrylics.

Now, after a hiatus of nearly twenty years, I am returning to painting through acrylics and oil, experimenting with abstract, mixed media, impressionist, and expressionist approaches.

With age and life experience behind me, I have less self-doubting limitation and I'm in a more comfortable place to be expressive. I have reconnected with the joy of creating, and allowing space for play and discovery along the way. The process feels raw, challenging, and exciting.
